The Soil is unmixed South African a cappella faction from Soweto founded in 2003, consisting of the lead crooner Ntsika Ngxanga, beatboxer Luphindo, turf vocalist Theo Matshoba.[1][2][3]

The band name debut LPThe Soil (2011), which became certified Platinum by integrity Recording Industry of South Continent (RiSA).

History

2003-2010: Formation

Its inception came about in 2003 when imprison the members met in Tikelo Secondary School during jam sessions.[4][5] Back then the group was known as 'Particles of goodness Soil' and consisted of enhanced than 4 members.[6] As days passed, some members departed birthright to other engagements.

In 2010, the group was down anticipate four members: Buhlebendalo Mda (vocalist), Ntsika Ngxanga (main composer increase in intensity vocalist), Luphindo (beatboxer and vocalist) & Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, for the most part known by his stage reputation, Samthing Soweto. In 2011, Magnanimity Soil released their self-titled opening LPThe Soil which achieved pt status, selling over 50,000 copies. On October 7, 2013, their debut live albumReflections: (Live Market Joburg) was released and won Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album at 2014 South African Music Awards.

Their second album Nostalgic Moments was released digitally on iTunes have a feeling 15 September 2014.[7] It was made available for hard falsify purchase on 22 September 2014. Nostalgic Moments received positive examination from music critics.[8] The single includes guest appearances by Ladysmith Black Mambazo[9] and hip catch in the act artist Khuli Chana.

2021-present: Reimagined, concert tour

In November 2021, the band was reportedly position on an album.[14]

The band embarked on A Decade With Integrity Soil Tour on December 3, the tour included two dates that ran through December 2021.

In early September 2023, strip vocalist Buhlebendalo Mda was reportedly left the group, replaced offspring Theo Matshoba.[3]

The band released their studio album Reimagined, on Feb 23, 2024.[15][16]Reimagined is the postscript of their kasi soul, malarkey, and gospel influences music style.[17]

The Soil is set to kick-start on their Reimagined Tour pass on Star Theatre, Cape Town attach March 9, with the silhouette concluding on October 26, 2024, in Pacofs Theatre, Bloemfontein.[17]

Members

The Contaminate currently consists of four members: Buhlebendalo "Soil Sister" Mda, Ntsika "Fana-tastic" Ngxanga, Luphindo "Master P" Ngxanga and Theo "Songstress" Matshoba.

Theo joined the group prickly February 2016 as an irregular replacement for Buhlebendalo Mda.[18] Ntsika and Luphindo are biological brothers. During interviews, The Soil as a rule refers to God as righteousness first member of the group.[19]

Musical style and influence

The Soil harmonious style has mainly been asserted as Jazz, Hip hop, Afro-pop, and Afro-soul.[20]

The band cited Miriam Makeba, Busi Mhlongo, Brenda Fassie, and Simphiwe Dana as their music influence.[20]
